Nice rooms, great location, good original/quoted price.
They overcharged us by $100 more than what was quoted on Booked.net and now I have to figure out if we can get that back or how to deal with it, something I don't want to have to deal with. Also, their continental breakfast wasn't good, only dry cereal, no milk, haha.

It was quiet and clean and affordable. My three biggest requirements. I was here in Sept and it may not be so quiet in the summer months. Not sure. Anyways the staff were friendly and right on the main drag of the beach. If someone is looking for convenient location and plans to be out on the beach and not in their room, this would be a hotel for them.

Location! Directly across the street from the beach and the wharf, and half a block from the Boardwalk. Good restaurants within 100', and easy parking. Oh, and great beds.
A giant hotel sign attached to our window blocking part of our ocean view (for which we paid extra) and filled the room with garish light at night; a sink that wouldn't drain and no phone. However, we laughed about our film noir hotel sign and enjoyed our stay.

A nice place to stay that was reasonable and right on the beach.
Wish they had a jacuzzi. They have a tiny pool that I never saw used.

Dark room--ask for one facing the beach

The location was good and the price was right.
The place was party city with banging, yelling, and cursing until 3am in the morning. Had to park car around corner from hotel since there was not enough parking spaces to accommodate guests.

It was a good price with adequate rooms and continental breakfast.
Outside, we could hear the balls and pins at the bowling alley that was next door, but not from inside our room on the first floor next to reception. Parking was very tight, with some cars on the street. We called the night that we checked out to alert staff that we left two plastic bags with clothing in them in a dresser drawer. They were not found or turned in, and we didn't get our clothing items back after three calls to determine if they'd asked housekeeping.

The price was great for the location, only one block from the boardwalk.
Breakfast could've been better, maybe a waffle maker or pancake maker machine.

I like the location, the hotel is clean and comfortable and couldn't be in a better place.
Went down to the office at 11pm Saturday night to get some cups because our room had no water cups. There was a Closed sign hanging, but also a hand written note saying "ring the doorbell if you need anything," so I rang the doorbell. A man came to the window, threw his hands up in the air and raised his eyebrows at me. I asked if I could get some cups. He stormed out, went around to the lobby, unlocked and opened the door. I was thinking he was going to hand me the cups that were sitting on the counter right behind him. Instead, he said "You know I was sleeping." I politely apologized and told him I wouldn't have rang the doorbell if I knew he was asleep. He nodded, slammed the door in my face, then stormed into the back, slamming the other two doors in the lobby. And this was in response to me following the instructions on the sign, to ring the doorbell if I needed something. This hotel has always been my go-to place in Santa Cruz, but because of this experience, I'll never stay here again. It was humiliating and rude beyond belief.

place was right by the beach literally walk across the street and there is the boardwalk! staff was nice, place is a little bit older but there are much older places close to the boardwalk and this 1 is way better than them. too cold to check out the pool.
don't know if it was my fault but when the booking was done it was done under the guest name and not under my name which made it confusing when we tried to check in. Also confused me for a second when I try to check out. still there my card though so yeah.
